Katsina State Deploys APCs and Drones Against Banditry

Katsina State has initiated a comprehensive security strategy by deploying 23 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs), drones, motorcycles, and surveillance systems to combat banditry. This equipment has been allocated to various security agencies, including the military, police, and the state-owned Community Watch Corps, which comprises approximately 10,000 personnel.

The procurement of this equipment is overseen by the state government from the Government House in Katsina. Officials have reported that improved coordination with the Nigerian Air Force has significantly aided in identifying and destroying bandit hideouts in the state's forested and rocky areas.

Notably, in August 2025, the Nigerian Air Force conducted a raid at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area, rescuing 76 individuals. Additionally, in November 2025, the Air Force destroyed a bandit hideout at Danfako in Faskari Local Government Area as part of Operation Fansan Yamma.

The Director of Public Relations and Information, Ehimen Ejodame, stated that these operations were based on intelligence gathered through surveillance.
