Katsina State Launches Smart Schools for Disadvantaged Kids

Katsina State has launched model smart schools designed to offer world-class education to children from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, completely free of charge. Governor Dikko Umaru Radda made this announcement on Sunday while leading a delegation from the European Union to visit three model schools in Dumurkul Village, Daura.

The initiative aims to provide opportunities for students from public schools in rural communities, focusing on merit-based admissions to ensure that these students can compete on a global stage over the next 20 to 30 years. The schools will be equipped with 24-hour electricity, ICT facilities, and internet access, with essential educational resources provided at no cost to students.

The Dumurkul school is nearly complete and is set to be commissioned within two weeks, with students already enrolled and teachers recruited. The Netherlands Ambassador, Bengt van Loosdrecht, expressed satisfaction with the project, commending the Katsina State government for its commitment to improving access to quality education and investing in modern learning infrastructure.
