Katsina Governor Radda Launches Smart Schools for Rural Kids

On Sunday, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda announced the establishment of model smart schools intended to provide world-class education to children from rural disadvantaged backgrounds, free of charge. This declaration was made during a visit to the Dumurkul Model Secondary School in Daura, accompanied by 17 European Union envoys.

The initiative includes the establishment of three modern schools across the state's three political zones, focusing on merit-based admissions for students from public schools in rural communities. Governor Radda emphasized the goal of preparing students to compete on a global stage over the next 20 to 30 years.

The schools will be equipped with 24-hour electricity, ICT-enabled classrooms, and internet access. Yusuf Suleiman Jibia, the Commissioner for Basic Secondary Education, stated that the Dumurkul school is nearing completion and will be commissioned within two weeks, with students already enrolled and teachers recruited.

The Netherlands Ambassador, Bengt van Loosdrecht, and Egyptian Ambassador, Moham Fouad, commended the project for its commitment to improving educational access and preserving Katsina's cultural heritage.
