Katsina Upgrades Public Health Emergency Center

On Friday, Katsina State inaugurated an upgraded public health emergency center to enhance emergency healthcare response capabilities. The center, established by the Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency and eHealth Africa, aims to strengthen emergency coordination in healthcare across the state.

Dr. Shamsudeen Yahaya, the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Health Care Development Agency, explained that the center was initially created to coordinate polio emergency responses but has now been upgraded to handle a wider range of public health emergencies.

This facility is equipped with modern communication tools to support rapid responses during health emergencies and is designed to stabilize electricity supply and internet connectivity for healthcare professionals. The upgrade reflects the increasing demand for coordinated approaches to manage public health issues beyond polio eradication, thereby improving the state's capacity to effectively address public health challenges.
