Katsina Governor Addresses Security Concerns Amid Attacks

A security meeting was convened by the Katsina State Governor in response to renewed attacks by bandits, which led to the killing of two civilian police officers along the Karadua-Musawa road in Matazu Local Government Area. The incident occurred on Sunday when bandits reportedly blocked the road and opened fire on a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, resulting in the deaths of its occupants.

Following a distress call, a joint team comprising police personnel and military operatives, along with members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, mobilized to the scene. The bandits regrouped and attempted to attack the Musawa police division but were repelled after a fierce gun battle.

Although details of the security meeting held on Monday were not disclosed, sources indicated that the discussions focused on strategies to tackle the resurgence of banditry affecting several communities. The meeting included heads of security agencies, local government chairmen, and traditional and religious leaders.
