Katsina Government Mourns Major General Rabe Abubakar

The Katsina State Government and Defence Headquarters (DHQ) expressed deep sorrow over the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who was abducted alongside his wife on May 30, 2026, by armed bandits near Zakin Baur village in Matazu Local Government Area. Despite efforts by security agencies, the couple was not rescued, and Major General Abubakar succumbed to complications from diabetes and hypertension while in captivity.

Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda described the incident as a national tragedy and a significant loss for the country, highlighting Abubakar's dedication to military service. The DHQ, through Major General Samaila Uba, acknowledged Abubakar's distinguished career and contributions to national security.

In response to the increasing wave of abductions and terrorist activities, the Katsina State Government vowed to intensify military operations against banditry and restore peace in affected communities.
