Katsina state govt blames residents for worsening insecurity

The Katsina State Government has placed blame on residents for the worsening insecurity in the state, citing a lack of actionable intelligence provided by the community. Commissioner Nasir Muazu of internal security and home affairs highlighted instances where residents failed to cooperate with security forces, leading to fatal consequences.

In one incident, villagers were warned about an impending bandit ambush on a military unit but chose to stay indoors, resulting in the death of three personnel and the destruction of a military vehicle. Muazu also mentioned a case where a Nigerian Air Force jet flew for 17 hours without residents providing crucial information on the exact location of bandits.

The commissioner emphasized the importance of residents providing intelligence to enhance security operations and assured that information shared would be treated confidentially. He urged everyone to contribute to the noble cause of improving security in the state.
