Bandits who killed 28 worshippers are cowards, says acting Katsina governor

Acting Governor Faruq of Katsina State has condemned the bandits who killed 28 worshippers in Malumfashi local government area, calling them cowards. The incident occurred on August 18 when gunmen stormed a mosque during early morning prayers.

The governor inaugurated eight new armored personnel carriers (APCs) to strengthen the fight against banditry. He praised the local residents for their resistance and commended their role in providing timely intelligence.

The state government has invested heavily in security assets and has successfully secured four out of the eight frontline local governments affected by bandit attacks. The government is seeking federal support to tackle insecurity and is hosting the Chief of Army Staff to assess the situation and provide additional support.

Commissioner Nasir Mu'azu highlighted the state's investment of N36 billion in security, with Katsina having 43 APCs, one of the highest numbers in the region. He emphasized the importance of community participation in the fight against insecurity and urged everyone to contribute.
