Katsina State Launches Polio Immunization Campaign for 3M Kids

Katsina State is set to launch a house-to-house polio immunization campaign targeting three million children from March 28 to 31, 2026. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance routine immunization coverage and strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the state.

Dr. Shamsudeen Yahaya, the Executive Secretary of the Katsina State Primary Health Care Agency, announced that the campaign will focus on children aged zero to five years, with special emphasis on those aged zero to nine months.

The campaign will run for four days and will involve training health workers to ensure comprehensive coverage in hard-to-reach communities, including schools and markets. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to cooperate with vaccination teams.

Preparations include training frontline health workers and mobilizing community volunteers. The campaign is supported by the state government in collaboration with partners like UNICEF and aims to address malnutrition and improve child health outcomes through integrated health services.
