Katsina United has officially rejected claims that their player, Chinedu Ozor, regained consciousness after being pronounced dead following his collapse during a pre-season friendly against Niger Tornadoes at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina. The club issued a statement on its X handle, clarifying that Ozor died despite efforts to save him.

Reports suggesting he later regained consciousness were labeled as false. The confusion arose when Ozor’s family requested additional medical confirmation before his body was taken to the mortuary, a request the club emphasized should not be misconstrued as evidence of his survival.

Katsina United appealed to the public to cease the circulation of rumors and unverified reports, stressing the need for compassion and privacy for Ozor’s grieving family and teammates. The club concluded by asking for respect for Ozor’s memory, stating, “Please let us allow him to rest.”.
