Kawas Shifts Support from Obi to Tinubu for 2027 Election

Bishop Leonard Kawas, during an interview on Channels TV, articulated his reasons for transitioning support from Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu for the upcoming 2027 election. Kawas emphasized that his initial support for Obi was a conscious political choice, asserting his constitutional right to decide whom to support.

He recalled actively campaigning for Obi and traveling with him across Nigeria. Kawas noted that if convenience had driven his political decisions, he would have supported Tinubu in 2023.

He stated that circumstances have changed, leading him and his group to now support Tinubu, whom they believe is on the right course despite not achieving perfection. Kawas expressed confidence that another four years for Tinubu would enable significant progress for Nigeria.

He defended his current support for Tinubu, stating it does not invalidate his previous backing of Obi.
