Kebbi State Mourns Loss of Two Esteemed Traditional Rulers
Two traditional rulers in Kebbi State have died following brief illnesses. The district head of Gwandu, who held the title Sarkin Gabas of Gwandu, passed away in Birnin Kebbi on September 23 at the age of 61.
His burial took place in Gwandu town according to Islamic rites. Subsequently, on September 25, Abubakar Atiku Mohammed Diggi, the district head of Diggi in Kalgo local government area, died in Birnin Kebbi at the age of 70.
His funeral was held at the Emir of Gwandu’s palace mosque, attended by numerous traditional rulers, retired civil servants, and politicians, before his burial in the main cemetery of Birnin Kebbi. Governor Nasir Idris extended his condolences to the families and communities of both districts, as well as to the Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammad Iiyasu Bashar.
He described the deceased as respected traditional rulers who significantly contributed to the development of their districts and Kebbi State.
