Festus Keyamo Sets Up Committee for New Airline Launch in Edo State, Nigeria

Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has initiated the formation of a technical committee to expedite the establishment of a new airline in Edo State, Nigeria. The state government is in discussions with South African investors to launch an indigenous airline, aiming to operate from the Okpebholo Airport.

The project seeks federal support and envisions the airline as a critical catalyst for economic growth, job creation, and the revitalization of the state's economy. Governor of Edo State has described aviation as crucial for investment inflow and economic development.

The Ministry is engaging potential investors, including South African partners willing to provide aircraft for the airline. This initiative aligns with broader aviation reform agendas to enhance regional air connectivity, promote indigenous airlines, and support state-led aviation initiatives.

The recent agreement with Aero Alliance as a concessionaire marks a significant step towards modernizing Nigeria's aviation infrastructure through public-private partnerships.
