NISO Disowns Unauthorized "Nigeria National Grid" X Account

The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has distanced itself from an unauthorized X account titled "Nigeria National Grid," which it claims is not affiliated with the organization. NISO issued a statement on June 5, 2026, advising the public and media to refrain from citing the account, as it does not represent NISO's official position or activities.

This warning follows a similar notice issued on January 17, 2026. NISO emphasized that the unofficial account has filled a gap created by its own failure to provide real-time information about the national grid, leading users like Holymikel and Abasjoshua to seek updates elsewhere.

NISO's official X account, along with its Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram pages, is the only verified source for information regarding Nigeria's electricity generation and grid status. The unauthorized account has gained significant followers, but NISO has urged stakeholders to rely on its verified platforms for accurate data.
