Kogi AGILE Project Trains Healthcare Providers for Girls

The Kogi State Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE) Project has initiated training for healthcare providers from the state's 21 local government areas to improve access to adolescent- and youth-friendly health services, particularly for secondary school girls. At the training's opening in Lokoja, State Project Coordinator Alhaji Ahmed Tijani Oricha stated that the initiative aims to equip providers with the necessary skills to address adolescents' unique health needs.
The training is part of Component 2.2A (Life Skills) of the AGILE Project, which focuses on personal development, health education, reproductive health, and preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Oricha emphasized the importance of inclusive healthcare delivery for all adolescent girls, including those with disabilities.
He also highlighted the project's achievements, including the renovation of 150 schools and plans for constructing 28 new school structures. Additionally, 25,000 adolescent girls have received Conditional Cash Transfers of ₦40,000 each to help reduce financial barriers to secondary education.
