Kogi State Rescues 15 Pupils from Orphanage Attack

The Kogi State Government condemned an attack on an unregistered orphanage school facility located in Zariagi along Kabba Junction, which occurred on April 26, 2026. During this unfortunate incident, unknown gunmen invaded the premises and abducted 23 pupils along with the wife of the proprietor.

Following the attack, a swift intervention by security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and Kogi State support agencies, led to the rescue of 15 victims. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information, confirmed the rescue and commended the professionalism and gallantry of the security agencies involved.

He noted that their coordinated response significantly curtailed the impact of the attack and assured that efforts would intensify to rescue the remaining victims and bring the perpetrators to justice. The government expressed concern over the operation of unregistered institutions in isolated locations, highlighting the need for regulatory oversight.
