Kogi State Rescues 15 Pupils from Kidnapped Orphanage

The Kogi State government announced the successful rescue of 15 pupils who were kidnapped from an unregistered orphanage school facility in Zariagi. The abduction took place late on April 26, when gunmen stormed the premises and took away 23 individuals, including the proprietor's wife.

The rescue operation was conducted by the Nigerian Police Force, which responded promptly to the incident. Kingsley Fanwo, the state commissioner, commended the professionalism and gallantry of the security forces involved in the operation.

He emphasized the need for strict compliance with existing regulations for orphanage schools, highlighting that unregistered institutions pose serious security risks in the current environment. Fanwo urged operators of orphanage schools to engage with authorities for proper security assessments to ensure the safety of children and reaffirmed the government's commitment to protecting lives and property.
