Gunmen Abduct Nine from Kogi Islamic Training Centre

On Sunday night at approximately 11:00 PM, armed assailants invaded the Daarul Kitab Islamic Training Centre located in Zariagi, Lokoja, Kogi State, abducting nine individuals, which included seven students and two matrons. The proprietor, Dr.

Tajudeen Moham Salihu Mondai, has appealed to the Kogi State government and security agencies to intensify efforts for the safe rescue of the victims. The attackers, armed with guns and cutlasses, unleashed violence during the raid, prompting some students to flee into the bush, with 17 students managing to return safely.

The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N150 million for the release of the abducted individuals. Dr.

Salihu described the incident as devastating for the institution, which provides free education and care for vulnerable children, many of whom are orphans or from indigent families. The school was established in 2021 and is registered with the Kogi State Ministry of Education.

The Kogi State Police Command, led by CP Naziru Kankarofi, has assured that efforts are underway to rescue the victims.
