Kogi State Shuts Markets and Motor Parks to Combat Terrorism

The Kogi State government, led by Governor Yahaya Bello, has directed the temporary closure of specific markets and motor parks across the state, particularly in the Kogi West Senatorial District and adjoining areas, to intensify security operations and combat terrorist, bandit, and criminal elements. The decision, announced by the state's Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Fanwo, aims to disrupt criminal logistics, restrict movement, and cut off access to food supplies that could support terrorist activities.

The closure affects communities across seven local government areas, including Lokoja, Kabba, Bunu, Yagba West, and Yagba East. The Nigeria Police Force has been actively involved in repelling criminal activities in the state, with several suspects arrested in recent times.
