Kogi State Government Orders Immediate School Closure for Security Reasons

The Kogi State government, led by Governor Ahm Usman Ododo, has directed the immediate closure of primary and secondary schools in the state as a proactive security measure. The closure, effective immediately, is based on credible intelligence reports indicating a need for preventive action to safeguard students and teachers.

Pastor Reuben Jimoh, Chairman of the Nation Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in Kogi, confirmed the midterm break and the subsequent emergency lockdown. Schools are expected to resume on February 16 after the security situation is reassessed.

Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, the State Commissioner for Information, described the closure as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of all educational institutions.
