Kwankwasiyya Movement Opposes Kano Education Ministry Merger

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has expressed strong opposition to the Kano State government's decision to dissolve the Ministry of Higher Education, merging it with the Ministry of Education. Spokesperson Habibu Moham stated that the government's justification for this administrative reform does not reflect the true motivations behind the dissolution.

The movement argues that the decision is politically motivated, particularly in light of ongoing tensions surrounding Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, who has not abandoned the Kwankwasiyya Movement. The group raised concerns that the government's actions appear to be punitive rather than focused on public interest.

They highlighted that the ministry had already been weakened in the past year, with several key agency functions redirected. The Kwankwasiyya Movement urged the state government to reconsider its actions, emphasizing the importance of a coordinated approach to higher education and the need for long-term planning rather than temporary political maneuvers.

Governor Abba Yusuf approved the merger, claiming it would strengthen coordination and accelerate educational reforms in Kano State.
