Kwankwasiyya Movement Critiques Nigeria's Reckless Borrowing

The Kwankwasiyya Movement, through its spokesperson Dr. Habibu Sale, issued a statement on Thursday condemning the Federal Government and the National Assembly for what they termed reckless borrowing practices that have led to a rising debt profile in Nigeria. The movement expressed deep concern over the government's continued approval of borrowing requests without adequate scrutiny, which they believe threatens the country's economic stability.

They highlighted that Nigeria is plunging further into debt without transparent justification or broad consultation, raising serious questions about fiscal discipline and the long-term sustainability of such trends. The statement also criticized the allocation and deployment of borrowed funds, suggesting an imbalance that favors certain regions over others, which undermines national unity and exacerbates existing inequalities.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement called for the National Assembly to act independently as a check on executive power rather than aligning with it.
