Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Fuels Obi Alliance Talks for 2027

Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has sparked discussions about a possible alliance with Peter Obi, the Labour Party presidential candidate for the 2023 elections, regarding a joint presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections.

Kwankwaso is expected to make a formal declaration of his membership in the ADC, having previously met with ADC's national chairman David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola. He resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) on Sunday, citing the necessity for political realignment in light of the current political landscape.

Kwankwaso expressed gratitude to the NNPP leadership and acknowledged the support he received during his time with the party. The NNPP's national public secretary, Ladipo Johnson, indicated that while the party is facing challenges, they remain committed to their political strength and future strategies.

Discussions about a potential Obi-Kwankwaso ticket are gaining traction among Nigerians, with some polls suggesting public support for such a collaboration.
