Kwankwaso Joins ADC, Boosts Opposition in Kano Politics

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the former governor of Kano State, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant moment in the political landscape of Nigeria. The ADC chairman, Senator David Mark, received Kwankwaso and highlighted the importance of this political realignment in response to growing calls for a cohesive opposition capable of safeguarding democratic values.

Mark noted that the ADC serves as a rallying platform for a broad-based national movement aimed at providing a credible alternative to restore confidence in democratic governance. He expressed concerns about the gradual erosion of opposition space and the potential threats to democracy posed by limited political participation.

Kwankwaso, who commands significant grassroots support, particularly through the Kwankwasiyya movement in Northern Nigeria, urged citizens across ethnic and religious divides to join the ADC and actively participate in building an inclusive governance system. He also encouraged the ADC to mobilize for massive party membership registration in preparation for upcoming elections.
