Kwankwaso and NDC Chairman Meet to Resolve Party Crisis

On Tuesday, former Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso met with Mairiga, the Kano State Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to discuss and resolve the lingering crisis within the party. Mairiga confirmed the meeting in an interview, stating that it involved key stakeholders at the state level and aimed to address disagreements regarding the party's structural leadership in Kano.

This crisis has intensified following Kwankwaso's defection to the NDC alongside former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, raising concerns about control over the party's structure in Kano. Mairiga reported that efforts to integrate Kwankwaso into the party had stalled due to disagreements over leadership arrangements, with separate meetings failing to produce a consensus.

The situation worsened amid claims of the party's plans for a state congress, which fueled suspicions among members regarding attempts to restructure the party leadership in Kano.
