Kano NDC Chair Rejects Control Transfer to Kwankwaso

Usaini Isa Mai Riga, the state chairman of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kano State, has publicly rejected allegations of plans to cede party structure control to former governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who recently joined the party. Mai Riga accused Kwankwaso of seeking total control over the party's structure in Kano, which he deemed unacceptable.

He emphasized that the current leadership would resist any attempts to displace them and would pursue legal avenues to ensure the party structure is not hijacked. Mai Riga further claimed that the national leadership of the party had directed a suspension of plans for a state congress in Kano following Kwankwaso's entry into the NDC.

He noted that there had been two unsuccessful meetings to resolve the leadership disagreements. Despite Kwankwaso's arrival in Kano on Monday and expectations of a political alliance meeting, he had not formally engaged with the state leadership by the time of the report.
