Customs Service Seizes Explosives Components in Kwara

The Nigerian Customs Service, under the command of Najeem Ogundeyi, intercepted significant contraband in Kwara State, including 222 units of US compressor components associated with explosive devices and 120 sacks of illegally mined lithium ore. The seizures occurred in the Eiyenkorin suburb and the Alapa Banni area.

Despite previous warnings, the Customs Service reported ongoing attempts by criminal elements to engage in illicit trade, which they view as economic sabotage. The operation involved collaboration with various security agencies, including the Nigerian Immigration Service and the Nigeria Police Force, and was conducted at the command's headquarters in Ilorin on a Wednesday.

The total duty paid value of the seized items was reported to be 478,171,315.00 Naira, highlighting the scale of the smuggling activities. The Customs Service reiterated its commitment to combating illegal trade and maintaining national security.
