Kwara Agency Reaffirms Vaccine Safety Amid Misinformation

Nusirat Elelu, the executive secretary, clarified during a breakfast program on Kwara Television that such allegations are misleading and could undermine public health efforts aimed at protecting children from diseases. They highlighted that the current immunization program in the state, including an ongoing polio vaccination campaign, is safe and effective, having received approval from global health authorities such as the World Health Organization and UNICEF.

Prof. Elelu noted that vaccines have saved millions of lives over the past decades and significantly reduced child mortality rates.

She urged parents and caregivers not to be misled by unverifiable information and warned against refusing vaccinations, which could expose children to health risks. The agency reassured residents of the deployment of trained health professionals across 16 local government areas to ensure safe vaccination practices.
