Kwara State Launches Child Rights Training for Schools

The Kwara State government has approved a comprehensive child rights training program targeting students and teachers across public and private schools. This initiative, announced on April 28, 2026, aims to strengthen the child protection system and raise awareness of children's rights within the education sector.

The program, proposed on April 9, 2026, will be implemented in phases across selected schools in the three senatorial districts of Kwara State. The training sessions will focus on child rights principles, safeguarding responsibilities, and mechanisms to address violations.

Teachers will be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify and respond appropriately to child rights violations. The initiative is fully sponsored and is seen as a significant step towards enhancing child protection in schools.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Lawal Olohunbeb, the Minister of Education, support this program, which aligns with Nigeria's Child Rights Act of 2003, aimed at protecting children's welfare and ensuring their access to education and healthcare.
