Kwara State Donates Garri Machines to Boost Local Economy

On August 5, 2025, Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq visited the Owod Oja community in Asa Local Government Area to inspect road projects and announce the donation of industrial cassava flour and garri processing machines. This initiative aims to create jobs, improve livelihoods, and encourage sustainable development.

The donated equipment includes a cassava mash fryer, cassava mash sifter, and cassava grater, with a daily capacity of 1.5 tons. Deputy Chief Press Secretary Mashood Agboola presented the items on behalf of the governor.

During the visit, Governor Abdulrazaq emphasized the importance of empowering local women and ensuring they have the necessary tools for economic self-reliance. The governor also highlighted a 23km road project designed to improve rural access to agricultural markets, facilitating transport for farm produce.

Community leaders, including Mallam Kuranga Yakub and Mustapha Kadir, expressed gratitude for the governor's support, particularly for the women who can now work from home and earn a living through garri production.
