Kwara Governor Abdulrazaq Elected President of African Forum

Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, the Governor of Kwara State, has been elected as the President of the Forum of African Regions. This election took place on Monday during the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) World Congress held in Tangier, Morocco.

Abdulrazaq emphasized the need for stronger cooperation to drive inclusive development across the continent. He will work alongside newly elected Vice Presidents from various regions: Ousman Oumar from Central Africa (Cameroon), Mbarka Bouaida from North Africa (Morocco), Peter Anyang Nyong'o from East Africa (Kisumu County, Kenya), and Panyaza Lesufi from Southern Africa (Gauteng Province, South Africa).

The forum's mandate is to accelerate socio-economic development and deepen decentralization across African regions. Abdulrazaq stressed the importance of collaboration among African nations and subnational governments to achieve sustainable growth, overcoming geographical constraints through infrastructural connections and investments.
