AbdulRazaq Elected FORAF President, Advocates for Africa

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Governor of Kwara State and Chair of the Nigeria Governors' Forum, was elected President of the Forum of African Regions (FORAF) during an event held on Monday in Tangier, Morocco, alongside the UCLG World Congress. The election also included four vice presidents representing different African regions: Ousman Oumar from Central Africa (Cameroon), Mbarka Bouaida from North Africa (Morocco), Peter Anyang Nyong'o from East Africa (Kisumu County, Kenya), and Panyaza Lesufi from Southern Africa (Gauteng Province, South Africa).

In a statement by his Deputy Chief Press Secretary, Mashood Abdulrafiu Agboola, AbdulRazaq emphasized the need for improved synergy among African nations and subnational governments to foster sustainable growth and development. He acknowledged the historical challenges posed by geographical constraints to economic integration and called for visionary leadership and strategic investments to overcome these barriers.

The mission of FORAF is to amplify the voices of African regions and strengthen decentralized cooperation across the continent.
