Kwara Governor Opens 8th State Sports Festival

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq officially opened the 8th Kwara State Sports Festival at the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex in Ilorin. The festival features athletes from the 16 local government areas competing in 28 sporting events, scheduled to conclude on August 29.

Represented by Bola Magaji, Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, the governor emphasized the importance of unity, discipline, and sportsmanship among the athletes. He stated that the festival aims to foster peaceful coexistence and friendship while discovering grassroots talents.

AbdulRazaq encouraged athletes to excel in their events while balancing their education with sports. Haliru Ayatu, representing the state Head of Service, praised the festival as a sign of expanding sporting activities and highlighted the improved facilities for athletes.

Ezekiel Benjamin, Executive Chairman of Isin Local Government, commended the stadium's upgrades and expressed hope for discovering new talents capable of competing at higher levels.
