Kwara Govt Greenlights Recruitment of 2,600 Forest Guards to Boost Security

The Kwara State Government has approved the recruitment of 2,600 forest guards to enhance security in the state, supplementing the existing 700 guards deployed to combat banditry in Kwara North and South senatorial districts. The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor announced that the new recruits would undergo training, including the use of sophisticated weapons and modern security strategies.

This move aims to strengthen the state's security architecture in response to increasing concerns about bandit attacks. The decision comes as vigilante groups and forest guards often act as the first line of defense before military reinforcements arrive in affected areas.
