APC Anoints Two Aspirants for Kwara 2027 Governorship

In Kwara State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) witnessed significant developments regarding the 2027 governorship race as Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq anointed Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu as his preferred successor.

This announcement created shockwaves among party members, especially as it came just hours before the governorship primary election. The primary, which was initially scheduled for Thursday but faced logistical issues, was eventually held on Friday.

Engr. Yakubu Danladi Salihu emerged victorious with 94,990 votes, defeating Yahaya Seriki, who received 41,700 votes, and Dr.

Bashir Bolarinwa, who garnered 22,118 votes. Other candidates included Engr.

Femi Araba, Professor Abubakar Suleiman, and Barrister Mohamdele Belgor, among others. The political landscape in Kwara State has been tense, with many aspirants expressing dissatisfaction over the consensus arrangement favored by party leadership.
