Kwara State Boosts Healthcare with 150 Nurse Recruitment

Kwara State has intensified its healthcare reform efforts by recruiting 150 nurses and acquiring a modern Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine to strengthen diagnostic services across the state. This development was announced by Aminat El Imam, the Commissioner for Health, following a visit from an accreditation team from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria led by Professor Adeboy Muhammad.

The MRI acquisition is a strategic investment aimed at addressing long-standing diagnostic gaps, reducing the need for patients to travel outside Kwara for advanced imaging. El Imam stated that the installation of the MRI will meet international standards and significantly improve the ability to diagnose neurological disorders, cancer, spinal injuries, and stroke-related complications.

Additionally, the state government plans to install a high-capacity CT scanner in major health facilities in Ilorin. The recruitment of the 150 nurses is part of a broader initiative that included the hiring of 1,050 health workers last year, emphasizing the importance of a strengthened workforce in improving healthcare delivery.
