Kwara State Reports Significant Healthcare Improvements

The Kwara State government, under the leadership of Amina Ahm El Imam, has reported measurable improvements in healthcare delivery as of April 1, 2026. The administration has implemented a wide range of reforms aimed at strengthening the primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare systems, including infrastructure upgrades and workforce expansion.

Notably, 193 primary health centers across 16 local government areas have been renovated. The Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) has supported immunization and malaria coverage, while significant renovations have occurred in several general hospitals.

KWASUTH has recently received accreditation from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and has partnered with two private universities to enhance medical training. Despite challenges such as power and water disruptions, the hospital has maintained critical services, with no record of a blanket suspension of caesarean section services.

The state has also trained 30 intern pharmacists and laboratory scientists, demonstrating a commitment to improving healthcare quality.
