NLC and NUP Deny Fake Gratuity Submission Claims

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Imo State chapter and the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) issued a joint press statement denying reports that they instructed pensioners to submit their files to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) for the purpose of gratuity payments. The statement, signed by NLC State Chairperson Uch Chigemezu Nwigwe and NUP State Chairman JB Ugochukwu, described the reports as fake and misleading, aimed at defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

The unions emphasized that they were not aware of any such directive and advised pensioners to disregard the false information to avoid falling victim to fraud. They reassured members that the unions are engaged with the state government regarding the payment of the next batch of gratuities, as promised by Governor Hope Uzodinma.

Pensioners were encouraged to seek accurate information from official sources regarding gratuity matters.
