FAAN Revises Cargo Port Charges at Lagos Airport After Stakeholders' Meeting

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has revised its cargo port charges at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos following a stakeholders' meeting. Initially proposing an increase from N7 to N20 per kilogram, FAAN adjusted the charges to N15 per kilogram after consultations with custom licensed cargo agents operating at the airport.

The proposed tariff review covers various charges related to cargo handling, including port charges, air cargo fees, import/export fees, and more. The decision to revise the charges came after concerns raised by cargo agents about the potential negative impact on trade relations and the wider cargo sector.

FAAN reaffirmed its commitment to engaging stakeholders and improving cargo infrastructure to support the growth of Nigeria's air cargo sector. The revised charges are set to be implemented from February 2026.
