Cargo Agents Protest Demolition and Tariff Hike at Lagos Airport

Cargo agents operating at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos have raised concerns over FAAN's plan to demolish secretariats, alleging it breaches agreements with umbrella associations like ANLCA, NAGAFF, APFFLON, and NAFFAC. FAAN intends to implement a new cargo tariff regime starting February 2, 2026, leading to a tariff increase.

Cargo agents argue that the demolition and tariff hike violate international aviation guidelines and agreements reached with FAAN. Despite protests and discussions, FAAN has issued ultimatums for the agents to vacate the premises.

Cargo operators insist on their legitimacy based on agreements made 15 years ago. Stakeholders, including security agencies and industry bodies, have been notified of the situation.

Dr. Segun Musa, a lead cargo operator, criticizes FAAN's actions as a clear violation of agreements and promises made regarding the secretariat's relocation.
