Lagos Court Sentences Two Chinese Directors to 46 Years in Prison Each for Cybercrime Scheme

The Lagos Federal High Court, presided over by Justice Daniel Osiagor, has sentenced two Chinese nationals, Huang Haoyu and Ken Hongxu, to 46 years in prison each for their roles in a multi-billion naira cybercrime and money laundering scheme. The duo, directors of Gent International Co.

Ltd., were given the option of a ₦56 million fine. They were among 792 suspects arrested in Lagos in December 2024 for internet cryptocurrency fraud.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of various assets recovered during the investigation, including mobile phones, office furniture, computer systems, vehicles, and other items located in Victoria Island and Ikoyi. The defendants were charged with offenses related to unauthorized access to computer systems, economic destabilization, and money laundering activities.

Another defendant, Audu Friday, pleaded not guilty and will face trial separately.
