Man Arrested for Chopping Off Partner's Finger in Lagos

The Lagos State Domestic Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) confirmed the arrest of a man accused of chopping off his partner's finger in a domestic violence case. The incident, which occurred on Saturday, March 21, 2026, was brought to public attention after a TikTok user, Annie, posted a video on March 22, detailing her injuries and calling for help.

The agency promptly contacted the survivor to ensure a formal report was made. Preliminary findings indicated that the survivor suffered severe injuries, including the loss of a finger, due to physical assaults by her estranged partner.

The case is currently being handled by the Family Support Unit at the Festac Police Station, where the perpetrator has been apprehended. As of March 25, 2026, the case has been charged in court, and the accused is remanded at Kirikiri Maximum Security Custodial Centre pending further proceedings.

Bail was set at 200,000 Naira with two sureties, and the next court hearing is scheduled for April 29, 2026. The DSVA reiterated the state government's zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence.
