Lagos Extends Income Tax Filing Deadline to April 2026

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) announced an extension of the deadline for filing individual annual income tax returns to April 21, 2026. This decision was disclosed in a statement on Saturday, where the agency expressed gratitude to taxpayers for their continued compliance and commitment to fulfilling tax obligations.

The extension was deemed necessary due to a significant increase in traffic on the LIRS eTax platform as taxpayers attempted to meet the previous deadline. The agency emphasized that filing annual income tax returns remains a legal requirement for eligible taxpayers.

Monsurat Amasa Oyelud, head of corporate communications at LIRS, stated that this new deadline is the final extension and urged taxpayers to take advantage of the opportunity to fulfill their statutory obligations. Dr.
