Lagos State Reinforces COVID-19 Control Measures

Lagos State is maintaining vigilance against COVID-19 by strengthening infection control measures across its primary healthcare centers. Dr.

Ibrahim Mustafa, the permanent secretary of the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), emphasized that the state is not relaxing its guard despite improvements in vaccination and herd immunity. He noted that while COVID-19 has not been completely eradicated, vaccinations have made infections milder and reduced severe outcomes.

The state is currently facing a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines, which are being replenished through federal government efforts. Mustafa assured that once vaccines are available, the public will have access again.

Infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols, which were intensified during the pandemic, continue to be enforced as part of routine healthcare delivery, covering a wide range of infectious diseases. Key measures include regular hand hygiene, the use of alcohol-based sanitizers, and mandatory mask-wearing for individuals showing respiratory infection symptoms.
