Lagos Man Sentenced to Life for Raping 12-Year-Old Maid

Harrison Ekeoma, a 50-year-old real estate agent, was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Rahman Oshodi at the Ikeja Judicial Division in Lagos for the rape of a 12-year-old housemaid. The incident occurred in January 2023 in Ogba, Ikeja, where Ekeoma was found guilty of unlawfully defiling the minor, contravening Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The prosecution successfully proved the case beyond reasonable doubt, supported by testimonies from four witnesses. The survivor's mother, who had moved to Enugu in 2022 in search of employment, had entrusted her daughter to Ekeoma's wife for assistance with household chores.

It was reported that Ekeoma would ask the survivor to watch pornographic films while his wife was away shopping. This heinous act has led to a significant legal consequence for Ekeoma, highlighting the serious nature of sexual offenses against minors in Nigeria.
