Lagos Man Sentenced to Life for Defiling Infant

Victor Dickson was sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice Rahman Oshodi at the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for the sexual assault of a six-month-old baby. The conviction followed a trial where the prosecution established that Dickson inserted his finger into the infant's vagina on October 17, 2021, at Ibeju Lekki, Lagos.

Justice Oshodi emphasized the vulnerability of the victim and noted that Dickson's attempts to distance himself from the crime were unconvincing. The court found that Dickson showed no remorse and instead fabricated allegations against the child's mother.

The prosecution presented three witnesses, including the child's parents and an investigating police officer, to support their case. Dickson had pleaded not guilty when arraigned on June 20, 2022, and was ordered to register as a sex offender under the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency Law of 2021.
