Yobe Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Defiling Toddler

Rabilu Sani, a 22-year-old man, was sentenced to 12 years in prison by the Magistrate's Court in Damaturu, Yobe State, for the defilement of a four-year-old girl in the Jakusko Local Government Area. The presiding Magistrate, Ahm Moham Bahuya, found Sani guilty of the offense, with sufficient evidence presented against him.

The court did not offer any option for a fine. Additionally, the court addressed circulating rumors regarding Sani's health, confirming through medical tests that he was not infected with HIV, which countered claims that he might have infected the victim.

This case is part of a broader legal initiative by the Yobe State Government, led by Hajiya Ya Jalo Badam, to ensure justice and protect children from sexual offenses. Rabilu Sani was arrested on November 9, 2025, after the girl was discovered in his room, having sustained severe injuries from the assault.
