NSCDC Mining Marshals Target Illegal Sites in Lagos

At the 8th edition of the NSCDC Lagos Public Relations Clinic in Ikeja, Lagos, Assistant Commander of Corps, Onoja John Attah, announced that the NSCDC Mining Marshals had successfully shut down multiple illegal mining sites and arrested both local and foreign suspects. This operation is part of a collaborative security model that has yielded significant results over the past two years, including increased successful operations and the commencement of prosecutions.

Lagos State Commandant, Adedotun Keshinro, emphasized that mining security extends beyond individual sites to safeguarding national economic resources and host communities. He advocated for a shift to collaborative security, acknowledging the partnership with Halogen Group, which has strengthened public-private security synergy.

Akinoso Oluwagbenga, representing the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, urged for enhanced security through intelligence sharing. Professor Adedeji Oyenuga of Lagos State University also called for improved collaboration in intelligence gathering and emergency response.

The event included a panel discussion with various stakeholders from security agencies, government institutions, and the media.
