Lagos and Nasarawa Top States with Highest Bus Fares in October 2025

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) report, Lagos and Nasarawa states had the highest average bus fares in October 2025, with Lagos recording N1,405.85 per journey within the city. The increase in transport fares was driven by factors such as fuel costs, sharp rises in vehicle maintenance expenses, daily extortion payments, and union levies.

Abia, Adamawa, and Kano states had the lowest average prices. The report also highlighted an increase in air travel fares.

Ifeanyi, a bus driver in Lagos, mentioned the heavy financial burden faced due to the surge in transport fares.
