Lagos Nightlife Economy Generates ₦2.9 Trillion Revenue

A report reveals that Lagos' nightlife economy generates ₦2.9 trillion, reflecting the global influence of Afrobeats and Nigeria's entertainment sector. Spending during the festive period known as Detty December 2025, which lasted 55 days, underscored its importance to the local economy.

Notably, the report from TAG indicates that the largest share of revenue comes not from ticketed events, but from walk-in spending at restaurants, bars, clubs, and other nightlife venues, which accounted for more than three times the revenue from concerts and festivals. Additionally, diaspora visitors, while making up only 11% of the attendance during Detty December, were responsible for 55% of the total spending.

Despite the rapid growth of this sector, there is currently no official system in place to track the full economic value of Lagos' nightlife economy, with estimates derived from TAG's proprietary field research and modeling.
